Marie Paviot

Senior Agriculture Economist

Marie is a Senior Agriculture Economist at the Agriculture and Food unit of the World Bank for Latin America and the Caribe and is currently based in Brasilia where she’s leading the implementation of the World Bank’s agriculture strategy for Brazil. With extensive experience in both governmental and non-governmental sectors, Marie has played a pivotal role in advising and implementing agricultural development strategies that drive sustainable growth and food security. Since joining the World Bank in 2017, she has worked in several countries from West Africa to Latin America. She has led initiatives that strengthen agricultural value chains, improve market access for farmers, create economic opportunities within the agri-food sector and define public policies to enhance the sustainable and inclusive development of the sector. Her tenure as a policy advisor for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs further underscores her expertise on public policies, where she focused on developing and refining agricultural policies and international initiatives to address food security challenges. Additionally, Marie’s work with NGOs has involved collaborating with farmers’ organizations across West Africa and Latin America, providing critical support to enhance their policy frameworks and operational efficiency. An agronomist by first training (ISARA/SupAgro, France), Marie also holds a Msc in Agro-Economics (AgroParisTech, France).
