Hendrik is the global advisor for agriculture, food systems and natural resource management at Welthungerhilfe (WHH, one of Europe´s largest NGOs working on food system transformation with the goal to achieve zero hunger) in Berlin, Germany. He co-develops, supports and implements WHH´s global strategy as well as its agricultural and food systems program together with colleagues and partners in 36 countries.
Hendrik has a background in ecology, resilience science, forestry and agriculture as well as a PhD in agricultural economics. He has worked extensively on food system transformation and rural development particularly on the African continent both as a consultant and researcher and has worked with many different stakeholders including the private sector , think tanks, development cooperation, farmer organizations, governments, and development cooperation.
