Maria Boa Alvarado is a PhD candidate in Development Sociology at Cornell University, specializing in responsible innovation for climate-resilient food systems. She holds a Master’s in Rural Development through the Erasmus Mundus program.
Previously, she served as Scaling Coordinator for CIMMYT/CGIAR’s Sustainable Agri-Food Systems program, facilitating participatory research across Latin America and Africa, and worked with CIAT/CGIAR’s Climate Change program and Catholic Relief Services.
Her doctoral research examines transformation processes in Mexico’s agro-food landscapes. She is particularly interested in foresight methodologies that ensure science serve community needs while addressing climate challenges.
